Falling Completely (Starling Falls #1) by Aidan Willows

falling completely“I don’t mind a chase, baby. Whether it’s a sprint or a marathon makes no difference to me. I’ll reach the finish line eventually. I don’t know what you’re running from, but I don’t give up easy. I’ll be seeing you soon.”

This was a really fun read! It was sweet, funny and super sexy and I really enjoyed it. Maliya Abbott is moving to Starling Falls from London to support her sister who is taking over their grandaunt’s bakery. Her plan is to stay for a year just help her sister get settled, then she plans on returning to London to attend Oxford University to fulfill her dream of studying to become a doctor at the same school as her parents did. Her plan definitely did not include meeting the handsome and persistent Caleb Jameson and his eclectic but loving family and starting any sort of relationship with him. But Caleb knows what he wants and he wants Liya and he’s willing to do whatever it takes or wait however long he has to in order to make her his. Liya’s got some pretty sturdy walls that she’s built around herself over the years and it’s going to take the help of everyone around Caleb to get through them. If you enjoy an alpha male with a big heart, a sassy, smart mouthed heroine and love the thrill of the chase, then you’ll definitely want to check this book out!

The man was so flipping attractive, I seriously considered slow clapping the achievement of his parents creating him.

I really loved both Caleb and Liya. Caleb was a sexy firefighter with a heart of gold, he was definitely an alpha male but he was in no way a jerk and I really loved that. His persistence and his crazy plans to get Liya to see that they belonged together were great. I definitely swooned quite a bit with this guy. Liya was full of sass and her inner dialogue made me laugh time and again. Their first meeting was adorable and definitely unique! I loved how awkward things were for them at first, it was awkward in a funny way, not an uncomfortable way. They definitely had chemistry with one another and I loved the sexual tension. The story wasn’t overly angsty, but it did have a few moments, but for the most part it was sweet and sexy and just an easy read.

There was a huge cast of secondary characters that we got to meet in this book and it could have easily been overwhelming but they all played their part and I loved all of the interactions between this group. You’ll fall right in love with Caleb’s huge family, from his brothers and sister to his aunt and uncle who raised this crazy brood. They were all amazing and I laughed so many times whenever they got together. Liya’s sister Niki was also a great character, the banter between the two of them was priceless. And let’s not forget Aunt Trudy, the exchanges between her and Liya cracked me up. There were also several other friends/co-workers sprinkled in there that really rounded out this great crew. I loved the diversity in this book too, even within just Caleb’s family there was plenty of mixed races, it’s not something you see all that often so it was refreshing that this book captured that so well. There are also plenty of opportunities for future books in this series, Caleb’s family alone could keep this going for a while, but when you consider all of the other side characters the possibilities are endless!

If you’re looking for a fun, easy read with a swoon-worthy hero and a smart talking heroine then I would definitely recommend this one. Thank you to the author for reaching out and asking us to read this one, we’re definitely looking forward to what else is in store with the Starling Falls crew!

“You’re a dream, Maliya Abbott. A dream I want to keep having every damn night.”
