“I’m honored that fate brought us together tonight. I’m alone, you’re alone… let’s be alone together, okay?” he suggested, rubbing a thumb down my cheek.
“We’re not alone if we’re together,” I protested.
Rachel Owens is feeling a bit melancholy as she prepares to spend the holiday alone for the first time. She decides to volunteer at a local shelter on Christmas Eve to help prepare and serve a holiday meal for the less fortunate. It’s here where she runs into Shawn Oberman, her former high school crush and friend/lab partner who she hasn’t seen since graduation. And of course, he’s just as handsome as he was back then. Shawn’s delighted to see Rachel again after all these years and quickly makes it clear that he’s interested in more than just catching up. What started out as a lonely holiday for these two may just become their most magical one yet!
“I think we need to make up for lost time, Rachel. Nothing is going to stop me from doing what I should have done all those years ago. I want you.”
You know that warm and cozy feel you get around the holidays? Well, that’s exactly how this book made me feel! It may be short, barely taking an hour of your time, but it was still full of charm and Grace Risata’s signature combination of humor and steam. I loved that the characters felt real and that there was no real angst or silly drama but there were plenty of moments to make you swoon, warm your heart, and make you laugh out loud (I’m still laughing about their little trip to the drug store!). If you’re looking for a quick read that’ll help put you in the holiday spirit and if you love second chances, then you definitely need to check this one out!
“Merry Christmas, Shawn. What I thought was going to be a miserable holiday sure turned into something magical. I only have you to thank for that.”
