Review! The V Card by Lauren Blakely & Lili Valente

Review! The V Card by Lauren Blakely & Lili Valente

I’ve been trying to get rid of this albatross hanging around my neck for years, but I’m looking down the barrel of age twenty-six with no acceptable de-flower-er in sight. At least, not until now . . .

CJ Murphy seems to have it all, she runs her own business, has great friends, and a great apartment in NYC. But the one thing she has, that she wishes she didn’t, is her pesky V card! She never thought it would be so hard to find someone to help her get rid of the thing, but it’s proving a greater challenge than she ever imagined. Staring down her 26th birthday, she decides she’s finally going to do something about it. Her plan? Ask her older brother’s best friend, Graham Campbell (who is known for his ability to please the ladies) to teach her everything he knows about doing the deed. When he approaches her to ask for her help with a board meeting for the lingerie company he owns, she’s happy to offer her help in trade for him teaching her. Graham’s always been attracted to CJ but she’s always been firmly in the friend zone, out of respect for his friendship with her brother, but the idea of any other guy teaching her the things she’s requesting makes him see red. So he agrees to her plan and tells himself he’s not going to fall for her, even though she’s proving to be an A-plus student in the bedroom. Will they be able to stick to their agreed upon seven-day plan? Or will their hearts have other plans for them?

I’m her friend, and I care deeply for her. I want her to know that. I also want to show her what kind of teacher I am. The kind who doesn’t settle for less than 100 percent from his student.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Lauren Blakely fan but this is the first I’ve read from Lili Valente, I’m guessing I would enjoy her other books, though. She must have a similar writing style because this book definitely had that Lauren Blakely feel that I know and love! I really enjoyed this book, it was funny, charming, smart, and sexy. Friends-to-lovers and best friend’s little sister are two fun tropes in the romance world, but this one had a little twist to it. It’s not mentioned in the blurb, so I won’t spoil it, but it led to a few heartwarming moment toward the end that I really loved. CJ was a strong, smart, caring, and brave heroine. I loved that she asked for what she wanted, even if it was a little scary. She may have been inexperienced but she was always open-minded and knew what she was looking for. It was easy to see why Graham would fall for her! And Graham was great! He was a successful businessman but totally down-to-earth and a truly good guy. He was attentive to CJ and actually listened to the things she had to say. He treated her like gold and will be sure to leave you swooning! The two together were so sweet and their chemistry was fantastic. I really enjoyed watching them evolve from close friends to more. The story had just the right amount of angst and had a wonderful ending with not one, but two sweet epilogues! If you’re a fan of either author, you won’t want to miss this, or if you just enjoy a steamy and sweet friends-to-lovers story, definitely grab a copy!

“I was asleep before you. Asleep without even any decent dreams.” I shake my head. “But now I’m wide awake.”
