Winner for the Best Message in a Book is…..

There were quite a few books this year that left us feeling better about the world, humanity or ourselves and were the type of book we just knew everyone else had to read. Sometimes the way an author writes a book to get a message across is so powerful that it really needs to be shared. The two books below show the reader that you as a person are enough to be treated well and with respect, that you should feel safe and when the time arises you are strong enough to make a change either for you or someone who …

Review! It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

“Lily,” he says pointedly. “There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.” As I sit here writing this review, it’s been a few hours since I finished reading It Ends With Us and I’ve spent those hours thinking about this book, trying to give my heart a little time to mend. I’ve also been trying like hell to figure out how I am ever going to review this book in a way that will do it any sort of justice while at the same time not giving anything away. This story …

Amy’s top picks of 2015

Just like Jamie I had to share my favorite books I’ve read in 2015 and because we read the same books there are some repeats I just couldn’t help it. I love the books that tear you apart and put you back together again. Also when you read over 180 books in a year it makes it really hard to narrow down the top 15 there are so many books that made an impact on me this year.   Left Drowning and Restless Waters by Jessica Park. These books are the type of books that make you believe in fate. Jessica’s characters …

Jamie’s Top Picks for 2015

As 2015 is drawing to a close, I decided to look back on my reading year and realized that I read a lot of amazing books this year! I wanted to pick my top 10, but there were just too many to limit myself to only 10! There have seriously been so many incredible books that I’ve read this year that it’s hard to even narrow it down to the list below (and I may have cheated and included multiple books in one!). There are many more that I wish I could have listed, but I did my best to pick …

Colleen Hoover Author Spotlight

Colleen Hoover is a #1 New York Times bestselling author (not to mention one of our favorites). She self-published her debut novel Slammed in January 2012 and most recently released November 9 which has already hit three separate New York Times best seller lists. Colleen is known for her amazing plot twists that make you want to scream, cry and laugh all at the same time. She has love of diet Pepsi that is unlike any we’ve ever seen. Her Novel Ugly Love has been picked up for a movie which we can’t wait to see!!! One of the greatest things …

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

“Go easy on me, Fallon. My heart is fragile.” I’m right there with you Ben, my heart is fragile too and Colleen Hoover (in true CoHo fashion) did a number on it in this book! I had butterflies, I laughed, I got angry, I got teary-eyed, you name it and it probably happened to me in this book. It’s always a treat to read a Colleen Hoover book, it’s like Christmas when she releases something new! And what a gift this book was, from the unique concept to the engaging characters and the rock-solid writing it was such fun to …

This Girl (Slammed #3) by Colleen Hoover

‘I know in these moments, when it’s just her and me and nothing else, that she truly, soul-deep loves me.’ This book, THIS book. I loved this book! I read this right after having just read Slammed and Point of Retreat so the story was still fresh in my mind and I loved reliving all of those important moments from Slammed through Will’s eyes. It was clever to pepper in bits from their honeymoon in with the recollection of all of those moments. I also loved that even though we were reliving all of these scenes we’ve already been through, …

Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover

‘Sometimes two people have to fall apart to realize how much they need to fall back together.’ This was another wonderfully written, heartfelt and deep story written by Colleen Hoover. I thought this was a great follow up to Slammed and I loved all of it. We pick up not long after the epilogue in Slammed and see Will and Lake happily together raising Kel and Caulder and settling into a pattern in their new lives, I love that we get Will’s POV to take us through this leg of their journey. Given the events that happen I think it …

Slammed (Slammed #1) by Colleen Hoover

“Sometimes, life gets in your way. It gets all up in your damn way.” Wow, what a wonderful book! At the time, this was the first book by Colleen Hoover that I read and it was what kick started my love affair with her writing! I had seen this book recommended several times prior to reading it so when I saw it on sale I knew I had to jump on it. It was so refreshing and poignant and beautifully written that I just devoured it. “How do you not fall in love with him?” The tears begin flowing just …
